Years after its iPad counterpart was first released, the Adobe Photoshop app was made available to iPhone users worldwide on Tuesday. It enables a mobile editing experience by incorporating some of the most innovative editing features offered by the US-based software company in its desktop application into its iOS app. With the help of artificial intelligence (AI) tools like Generative Fill and Generative Expand, which make use of Adobe’s Firefly AI model, users can expand or add content to photos with straightforward text prompts.
Core editing and imaging features like layering, masking, and access to Adobe assets are also included in the new Photoshop app for iPhone, though some of them will need a Premium membership.
Availability and Cost of the Adobe Photoshop App for iPhone
You can download Adobe Photoshop for iPhone for free from the App Store. According to the company, its Android equivalent will be available soon. Despite being free to use, the Adobe Creative Cloud subscription is required to access some of its features.
The new Photoshop Mobile and Web plan costs Rs. 799 per month or Rs. 6,900 per year in India. Magic Wand, Generative Fill and Expand, Object Select, Content-Aware Fill, and Advanced blend modes are some of its features.
Features of the Adobe Photoshop App for iOS
The company claims that the new Adobe Photoshop app for iOS offers a user-friendly mobile interface that enables artists to make changes while they’re on the go. Like its desktop equivalent, the mobile app includes image editing and design tools that allow for fine-grained selections, focused adjustments, and sophisticated colour corrections. Users can store their edits in the 5GB of cloud storage that comes with the free plan.
Users can blend, composite, and combine images to create original designs by utilising selections, layers, and masks. Distracting elements can be eliminated with tools like the Spot Healing Brush, and portions of an image can be replaced, recoloured, or removed using the Tap Select tool. Despite being a free-to-use app, Adobe has brought its AI-powered editing tools to the iPhone.
The Generative Fill and Generative Expand features are powered by the company’s proprietary Firefly AI suite. The former analyses the image’s pixels to add or remove contents from images, matching the lighting, perspective, colouring, and shadow. Meanwhile, the latter tool is used for expanding images beyond their borders with AI-generated content based on textual prompts.
Creators can access a free library of Adobe Stock assets to enhance their images. It also gets direct connectivity with other Adobe creative tools such Adobe Express, Adobe Fresco and Adobe Lightroom, enabling them to export photographs to the aforementioned platforms.
