Redesigned menus, icons, and other system components are anticipated in the company’s next operating system updates. According to the article, these could assist Apple in providing a more consistent experience across devices. VisionOS, Apple’s operating system for its wearable spatial computer, is reportedly the source of inspiration for the updated versions of iOS 19, iPadOS 19, and macOS 16.
It’s important to remember that Apple has previously been predicted to release an updated operating system version. It was previously anticipated that the company would release iOS 18 with a major UI overhaul that was also influenced by visionOS. But the update didn’t significantly alter the user interface when it was released last year.
Jon Prosser of FrontPageTech previously leaked an artist’s rendering of a revamped iOS camera app. While the iOS home screen now features round icons instead of the rounded square form that iOS has been using for years, the UI elements in the app seem to be similar to those on visionOS. In contrast to iOS, iPadOS, and macOS, visionOS has round app icons.
It anticipates revealing the upcoming operating system versions at its yearly Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2025), which typically occurs in June. If these rumours are true, when iOS 19, iPadOS 19, and macOS 16 are introduced later this year, Apple may unveil the most significant operating system makeover in a number of years.
