Apple’s 5G Modem Will Be Available for iPhone 18 Pro Models.

Even though the iPhone 17 series is still months away from launch, rumours concerning the iPhone 18 series for next year are constantly being circulated. Most recently, a well-known analyst predicted that Apple’s second-generation modem would be included with iPhone 18 Pro versions. With the iPhone 16e, the company unveiled C1, its first internal modem. Fast and dependable 5G cellular connectivity is promised by Apple’s first cellular modem design.

Next Year Could See the Release of Apple’s Next In-House Modem
According to 9to5mac, in his most recent note to investors, Jeff Pu of GF Securities laid out his expectations for the iPhone 18 series. According to the expert, Apple plans to include the “C2” modem in the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max by 2026.

The creation of the second-generation Apple modem has been brought up previously; in February, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg asserted that Apple intended to employ the C2 modem in “higher-end iPhones” the following year.

Additionally, according to reports, Pu stated that Apple may decide against include the C1 in the next iPhone 17 Air. It’s unclear if Apple will be able to employ the C1 chip in iPhone 18 variants and save the rumoured C2 chip for Pro models. For the more expensive models, the business might continue to use the Qualcomm 5G modem.

mmWave, or the extremely high frequency (EHF) band, is not supported by the C1, which made its debut with the iPhone 16e last month. The phone’s upload and download speeds may suffer as a result. It is reported that a new, mmWave-compatible version of Apple’s C1 modem is being developed. Apple’s reliance on external suppliers, like as Qualcomm, will decrease with the release of new in-house CPUs.
