The Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) recently launched a successful airstrike in the Lake Chad Basin, targeting a key terrorist stronghold at Jubillaram. The attack destroyed a major food depot and eliminated several terrorists, dealing a heavy blow to their operations.
According to Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, the Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), the operation took place on November 23, following weeks of careful intelligence gathering. The target was a crucial logistical site used by terrorists, which also served as a hideout for their commanders and fighters. Intelligence had previously linked this location to several recent attacks, including the assault on troops in Kareto on November 16.
NAF fighter jets carried out a precise airstrike, destroying the storage facilities and neutralizing the terrorists on site. Mop-up operations followed, using cannons to eliminate any remaining hostile forces attempting to flee.
“The operation was made possible through continuous surveillance and reconnaissance, which confirmed the presence of the terrorists hidden within dense vegetation,” Akinboyewa explained.
“The destruction of their food depot and sanctuary disrupted their supply lines and weakened their ability to carry out future attacks.”
This mission reflects the NAF’s commitment to defending the nation, both on its own and alongside ground forces in the fight against terrorism. Akinboyewa emphasized that the NAF will continue to carry out these operations until all threats to Nigeria’s peace and prosperity are eradicated.
