Although Apple has not yet released any official information about a foldable iPhone, a recent report provides us with an estimate of its cost. According to reports, the price of the foldable iPhone model is around double that of the iPhone 16 Pro Max. With a book-style folding form, Apple is expected to release a limited number of its foldable smartphone by the end of next year.
The price range and launch schedule for Apple’s first foldable iPhone
According to MacRumors, Tim Long, an analyst at Barclays, stated in an investor note that the initial price of Apple’s first foldable iPhone might be around $2,300 (approximately Rs. 1,99,000) in the United States. The device would cost almost twice as much as Apple’s most costly iPhone if this report proves to be accurate. The standard 256GB storage model of the iPhone 16 Pro Max costs $1,199 (about Rs. 1,00,700), while the 1TB storage model costs $1,599 (about Rs. 1,39,200).
In contrast, the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold starts at $1799 (about Rs. 1,55,000), while Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 costs $1,899 (approximately Rs. 1,64,300).
Following a trip to Asia where his team consulted with hardware makers, Long is said to have produced this pricing projection. According to reports, he stated that there is growing conversation in the supply chain regarding the release of a foldable iPhone in late 2026 or early 2027. Given the higher beginning price, Long anticipates that Apple will only sell a small number of its foldable devices.
The foldable iPhone is expected to cost between $2,000 (approximately Rs. 1,74,100) and $2,500 (about Rs. 2,17,700), according to earlier rumours. According to rumours, it will have a 5.5-inch cover display and a 7.8-inch inside display. According to reports, the foldable’s display is almost creaseless. It may have a side-mounted Touch ID sensor instead of Face ID.
Apple’s foldable book-style According to reports, the iPhone’s thickness is 4.6 mm when unfurled and 9.2 mm when folded. It is expected to have a centre frame made of aluminium alloy. A dual back camera setup and a battery with a capacity of roughly 5,000mAh are believed to be features of the foldable.
