A gas cylinder explosion at a filling station in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State has damaged six vehicles, as confirmed by the state police command.
In a statement released on Friday, police spokesman Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu reported that the incident occurred when police operatives attached to Jibia Divisional Police Headquarters heard a loud explosion. In response, the Divisional Police Officer, alongside military personnel, promptly led a team to the scene.
“Upon reaching the site, officers found a truck loaded with gas cylinders engulfed in flames at Tamal filling station on Kagadama-Magamar Jibia Road,” the statement read. The joint team quickly implemented preventive measures, successfully extinguishing the fire to safeguard lives and limit property damage. Six vehicles sustained significant damage, but, fortunately, no casualties were reported.
The Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, has ordered a thorough investigation to uncover the cause of the explosion. According to Sadiq-Aliyu, updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
