At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona, Google will be presenting two new Gemini Live features. Later this month, the Mountain View-based software behemoth will also make screen-sharing and Live Video available to its premium members. Through the Gemini Live interface, Live Video will enable users to engage in a video chat with the artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot. However, users can share their screen with Gemini using the screen-sharing feature, and the AI will be able to respond to questions depending on what it observes.
At MWC 2025, Google Will Present Two New Gemini Features
The IT giant announced in a blog post that it will be holding interactive demonstrations of the new Gemini features at MWC 2025. In addition, attendees can explore Circle to Search’s language translation capabilities and other Gemini Live features.
The first of the two new Gemini features is Live Videos. This was presented at Google I/O 2024 and is being developed as part of Project Astra by DeepMind, the company’s AI division. Gemini Live, the AI-powered real-time two-way speech conversation tool, offers access to live videos.
Users can use this feature to display Gemini a video stream from their device’s camera, and the AI will be able to interpret the visual data in real time and respond to questions about it. Additionally, the business showcased the Live Video capability in a YouTube video. In the video, a user asks Gemini what hue to pick for their next vase after showcasing their pottery collection. The table showed the available colours.
Gemini was able to quickly identify a colour that would go well with the rest of the collection by analysing the colours of the pots and the available colour alternatives. Notably, when the feature launches, qualified users will be able to access it by seeing a new video icon in the Gemini Live interface.
Gemini screen sharing is the second feature. At the moment, the Gemini AI assistant has a button above the text box that reads “Ask about screen.” When users tap the button, a screenshot is taken, which they can then share with the AI and ask questions about. Another “Share screen with Live” button has been added to the new functionality.
Users can ask questions about what they see in real time by tapping here, which will automatically allow the AI to record the screen. In addition to responding to questions regarding the active screen, Gemini can track the user’s movements as they navigate between pages or apps. In addition to providing answers to common questions, the feature can assist users in locating a webpage or navigating to specific settings.
Later in March, Google stated that Gemini Advanced customers will be able to access both of these features. These features are exclusive to Android and aren’t yet accessible on other operating systems.
