First Bank fixes system migration Oct. 26.

First Bank has announced its transition to a new cloud-based procurement and financial platform, aiming to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery.

This migration, set to begin on Saturday, October 26, may lead to temporary service disruptions, as noted in an announcement from the bank, which serves over 42 million customers.

This development aligns with a broader trend in the Nigerian banking sector, where several institutions are upgrading their core banking systems.

Since September, at least four major banks, including Zenith Bank and Guaranty Trust Bank, have successfully switched their core banking applications.

The bank’s notice stated, “As part of the bank’s continuous investments to improve operational efficiencies and service experience, we will be transitioning from our current procurement and financial platforms to a new cloud-based platform that provides additional capabilities and benefits.”

It added that certain activities and transactions would be temporarily suspended during the transition to ensure a smooth migration process with minimal disruption.
