Galatasaray reportedly aims to acquire Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen for €50 million in January, despite his €75 million release clause. Osimhen, currently on loan from Napoli, joined the Turkish club in September, and while Galatasaray doesn’t hold an option to make the transfer permanent, they’re reportedly looking to raise funds through sponsorship to cover the proposed fee.
The Turkish media outlet Sozcu notes that Galatasaray’s bid is intended to outpace potential competitors, such as Chelsea, who had discussions with Napoli over the summer but couldn’t finalize a deal. With a sponsor’s backing, Galatasaray’s directors are hopeful they can secure the transfer early next year, but the financial gap between the €50 million they can offer and Osimhen’s €75 million clause could be a sticking point.
Despite these developments, Osimhen has affirmed his commitment to Galatasaray, stating he intends to stay with the club until the season ends.
