She emphasized that the match will serve as a key test for Nigeria’s preparation for the upcoming WAFCON.
“The Super Falcons will assess their level of preparation for the WAFCON in Morocco next year,” Nwaneri told NationSport. “They shouldn’t feel pressured to win because they know France will have the advantage, especially playing at home. They should focus on preparing for WAFCON rather than stressing over the outcome.”
Looking ahead to the clash in Angers, Nwaneri encouraged Nigerians to focus on the bigger picture, stressing that the match offers coach Justin Madugu the chance to build a competitive team capable of leading in WAFCON rather than just participating.
As head coach of Abia Angels and assistant coach of the Flamingos, Nwaneri praised Madugu for including home-based players from the NWFL Premiership, which she believes will strengthen local leagues. She highlighted the importance of rewarding home-based players with call-ups for strong performances.
To further develop the domestic league, Nwaneri suggested that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) should require Super Falcons coaches to integrate players from the NWFL Premiership into their programs.
