In order to attend the opening of the International Exhibition of Extractive and Energy Resources 2024 conference, Vice President Kashim Shettima left Abuja on Wednesday and travelled to Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
The event takes place at the Abidjan Exhibition Centre between November 27 and December 2, 2024.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Mr. Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Communication, stated that Shettima’s visit is “at the invitation of Côte d’Ivoire’s Vice President Tiémoko Meyliet Koné.”
“VP Shettima Leaves For Abidjan, To Attend SIREXE 2024 Opening Ceremony,” reads the statement.
The Government of Côte d’Ivoire hosts the worldwide SIREXE conference, which focusses on “Policies and Strategy for the Sustainable Development of the Extractive and Energy Industries.”
According to Nkwocha, the vice president will use the occasion to discuss Nigeria’s experiences in the fields of hydrocarbon production and exploration.
Later on Wednesday, the vice president is anticipated to return to Abuja.
