US rapper Young Thug, born Jeffery Lamar Williams, has been released from jail after a lengthy 900-day incarceration. As part of a plea agreement, he pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including gang, drug, and gun offenses.
In court, Williams accepted full responsibility for his actions, stating, “I take full responsibility for my crimes, for my charges. To really everybody that has got something to do with this situation, I want to say sorry.” The 33-year-old Grammy winner faced a potential 45-year sentence, but Superior Court Judge Paige Whitaker commuted it to time served, followed by 15 years of probation.
Williams expressed remorse, describing himself as a “good guy with a good heart” who got into trouble because of his tendency to be “nice or cool.” He acknowledged the consequences of his actions and committed to being more responsible in the future, stating, “I understand that you can’t be that way when you reach a certain height because it could end bad… and it could fall on you.”His probation terms are strict, requiring 100 hours of community service, restrictions on contact with gang members, and a ban on staying in the Atlanta area for the first decade, except for family events and anti-gang presentations.
