Edward Masha, the Kaduna State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has dismissed rumors suggesting he called on party members to boycott the local government elections held in all 23 Local Government Areas of the state.
In an interview in Kafanchan on Friday, Masha clarified that his office neither made nor endorsed any such call.
He explained that PDP agents discovered a critical issue during the inspection of sensitive materials at the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIECOM) office in Kaduna.
The result sheets, a vital part of the electoral process, were missing, raising concerns. Masha had previously warned of possible manipulation by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), alleging plans to tamper with the election results through an alteration in SIECOM’s election guidelines.
Despite these concerns, Masha urged PDP members to participate in the election, insisting that all sensitive materials be included to ensure a fair process.
He criticized the APC’s actions as a threat to democracy in Kaduna State but encouraged the PDP to turn out in large numbers and peacefully exercise their right to vote.
