Mark Gurman of Bloomberg’s Power On newsletter said Apple is seeking to join the smart home market with new gadgets. Apple’s HomePod is in the sector, but it’s not popular. The IT giant is using robots, AI, and a new OS to redefine the sector.

Apple is developing two smart-display tabletop gadgets, according to the report. The high-end model reportedly includes a robotic limb and a large, iPad-like display.

The report revealed more about the low-end gadget. FaceTime and home appliance management are possible with the device’s smart display. The gadget is codenamed J595. Uncertain whether gadget will have robotic appendage.

The gadget may come next year, according to Gurman. It remains unclear whether the launch will happen in early 2025 or later. Some say it costs $1,000 (Rs. 83,740). The most intriguing aspect is that Apple is apparently developing homeOS to power these gadgets and its smart home portfolio, including HomePod and HomePod mini. Apple TV’s tvOS is claimed to underpin the OS.

Apple Intelligence will also be in the upcoming smart home gadgets with integrated screens. How the tech giant will add AI to the smartphone is uncertain. The cheaper smartphone reportedly supports features like Calendar, Notes, and Home. The gadget will control smart home products and serve as its hub.
