Google Maps Live Activities With ETA, Directions Expanding to More Users

Live Activities support on Google Maps seems to be gradually becoming available to users in several locations, including India.

Google Maps is gradually increasing its support for Live Activities on iOS, enabling users to conveniently get more details about their journey information. The search giant has previously confirmed that it will introduce the feature to the iOS version of its navigation application, but it has not yet rolled it out to all users. Apple implemented Live Activities support in 2022 via iOS 16. Since then, third-party apps have been incorporating this functionality, which provides helpful information (such as a countdown or progress bar) on the lock screen and Dynamic Island of compatible iPhone models.

Regular working hours from 9 AM to 5 PM.According to Google, a number of iOS users have been able to utilize Live Activities on Google Maps in the last two months. Users’ supplied screenshots further indicate that the functionality is accessible in other areas and languages, including India. According to the magazine, they are making the iOS function available to a larger number of people after testing it earlier this year.

After Google Maps adds the capability for iOS, users will see Live Activities on the Lock Screen or Dynamic Island as soon as they start navigating on their iPhone. The interface will provide the following information: the upcoming direction, a progress bar indicating horizontal movement, and the estimated time of arrival at the destination.

Currently, Google Maps has limited implementation of Live Activities, and there is no information from Google about when support will expand to all iOS users. The staff members at Gadgets 360 were unable to access Live Activities on the most recent iteration of iOS, as well as the most recent version of Google Maps from the App Store.

Although Google is now in the process of testing iOS compatibility for its navigation app, several third-party apps have already incorporated Live Activities into their own applications. The mentioned companies include Uber, Zomato, Swiggy, FotMob, Gentler Streak, Forest, and Lumy.
