The Federal Government has announced Wednesday, December 25, Thursday, December 26, 2024, and Wednesday, January 1, 2025, as public holidays to mark Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year celebrations.
Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Interior, made this declaration through a statement signed by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani. He extended warm greetings to all Nigerians and encouraged them to reflect on the values of love, peace, and unity that the festive season represents.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo emphasized the significance of the season as a time to foster harmony and strengthen relationships within families and communities. He urged Nigerians to commit to the peace, unity, and progress of the nation, essential for national development.
He remarked, “The Christmas season is a time for spiritual reflection and national renewal. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, let us demonstrate kindness and goodwill to one another, regardless of our differences.”
The Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring peace, security, and prosperity across the country. He also expressed confidence that President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda would bring about a more prosperous economy in the coming year.
Wishing Nigerians a Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2025, Dr. Tunji-Ojo called on all citizens to use the festive period as an opportunity to unite and embrace the season’s spirit of goodwill.
