The Nasarawa State chapter of the Labour Party (LP) has inaugurated its Directorate of Mobilisation and Integration to strengthen membership and rally support for upcoming elections.
The inauguration took place on Friday at the party’s secretariat in Lafia. LP State Chairman, Alexander Ombugu, highlighted the event’s significance following a directive from the party’s National Headquarters. Ombugu reflected on the party’s strong performance in the 2023 elections, particularly the presidential election, where the LP secured a landslide victory in the state.
Ombugu expressed confidence that the Directorate’s establishment would enable the party to secure numerous elective positions in the 2027 elections. He emphasized the importance of galvanising support and attracting more members to fortify the party.
“I am confident of victory for the party in future elections, as I believe in the ability of everyone in the team to deliver according to their roles,” Ombugu said.
The newly inaugurated members include Ablaku Anthony (Chairman), Auwal Musa (Secretary), Emma Umbugatsa, Jatau Umbugala, Mike Ayubu, Ankara Daniel, Namo Adgizi, Sunday Anzaku, Agah Aaron, and Zeal Innocent. The team is tasked with working closely with the party’s Youth Leader and Organising Secretary to ensure effective guidance in their duties.
Ombugu called for unity within the party, urging members to address challenges within the leadership structure and avoid seeking external solutions.
He thanked the National Chairman of the Labour Party, Barr. Julius Abure, for his dedication to the party’s success despite opposition.
The new Chairman of the Directorate, Ablaku Anthony, expressed gratitude for the trust placed in them and promised to serve diligently in their roles.
