Nigeria and Britain have reached a trade volume of £6.7 billion, signaling a mutually beneficial economic relationship, according to Tajudeen Ahmed, Chairman of the Presidential Dinner and Awards Committee. Ahmed made this announcement during an event hosted by the Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce (NBCC) in Lagos, where he outlined the objectives of the upcoming 2024 Presidential Dinner and Awards.
The annual event celebrates business excellence and fosters collaboration between Nigerian and British companies. Ahmed emphasized that the Presidential Dinner is about much more than just a meal; it’s an occasion to recognize outstanding contributions in trade and to strengthen bilateral business ties.
Ahmed also explained the chamber’s leadership transition process. The chamber’s president serves a two-year term, allowing for continuity in leadership. The current president, Ray Atelle, will oversee this year’s Presidential Dinner as his final official duty before the transition. The next year will feature the Presidential Inauguration Week, marking the start of a new presidential term for the chamber. This event highlights the NBCC’s commitment to promoting trade and investment opportunities, underscoring the evolving partnership between Nigeria and the UK.
