Intel has launched its new Core Ultra 200S series processors, codenamed Arrow Lake, designed for desktop PCs. This marks the first desktop processor by Intel to feature a dedicated neural processing unit (NPU), capable of delivering 36 trillion operations per second (TOPS). These processors aim to power AI-enabled PCs, delivering significant improvements in performance, particularly in artificial intelligence tasks.
The flagship model in this series, the Intel Core Ultra 9 processor 285K, along with five other processors, features a combination of up to 8 performance cores (P-cores) and 16 efficient cores (E-cores). Intel claims these processors offer up to 6% faster single-threaded performance and 14% better multi-threaded performance compared to previous generations, thanks to upgrades in both CPU and GPU performance. The processors also come with integrated Iris Xe GPUs.
Arrow Lake processors are optimized for power efficiency, with 58% lower package power consumption during everyday tasks and a reduction of up to 165W in system power consumption during gaming.
The dedicated NPU brings hardware-accelerated AI capabilities, offering up to 50% faster performance in AI-driven creative applications compared to competitors. These processors support modern connectivity, including 24 PCIe 4.0 lanes, 8 SATA 3.0 ports, and 10 USB 3.2 ports, as well as Thunderbolt 4, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3.
The Intel Core Ultra 200S series will be available starting October 24, 2024, through retail outlets, online stores, and OEM partners.
