Three Significant Changes Have Made the iPhone 16 Series Reportedly Easier to Repair Than Previous Generations.
A research suggests that the iPhone 16 series may be simpler to fix than the earlier model of Apple handsets. At the “It’s Glowtime” event earlier this month, the Cupertino-based tech giant unveiled the lineup, which included the basic model, the iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. The business did not emphasise the modifications it made behind the scenes to make the devices simpler to fix, even if it did promote the new hardware advancements. But Apple has made the iPhone 16 series the most repair-friendly in its history in three ways.
Could Be Easier to Repair the iPhone 16 Series
It was previously impractical to fix an iPhone at home or at independent repair businesses for a number of reasons. It was required to submit direct orders for replacement parts from Apple due to the company’s stringent stance. Moreover, the battery was affixed to the container using an adhesive that proved to be quite challenging to extract.
Nevertheless, according to an Engadget article, the tech giant has modified the adhesive design to utilise a substance that peels off when a low voltage electrical current is sent over it, therefore resolving the sticky problem. Repair experts just need a 9V battery (common batteries accessible at shops and used for numerous products) to remove the battery from the enclosure.
The FaceID-enabled Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) scanner on the iPhone 16 series is supposedly becoming even better. Because of the security risks involved in tampering with the system, repairs could only be performed at Apple service facilities. However, it seems that switching out the new TrueDepth camera between units is now possible without any problems.
The third modification is also noteworthy. With iOS 18, Apple unveiled the Repair Assistant, a tool that fixes problems with component pairing. As previously stated, component matching proved challenging due to Apple’s stringent regulations. On the other hand, the manufacturer now lets customers calibrate and adjust both new and old components right on the gadget.
When combined, these modifications may make it simpler for seasoned users to replace components and solve little problems at home, while others may choose to get them addressed at a third-party shop.
