Xiaomi to Develop 7,500mAh Battery with 100W Charging
Xiaomi may be testing a 120W-charging phone with a 7,000mAh battery.
Last month, Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi released the K70 Extreme Edition with a 5,500mAh battery and 120W fast charging. Now, the Chinese smartphone maker may make larger batteries for its future phones. Xiaomi is developing technology to charge smartphones with 7,000 mAh or 7,500mAh batteries at 120W or 100W, respectively. Other smartphone makers may use higher-energy-density batteries in their upcoming models.
New Xiaomi Phones May Have 7,500mAh Batteries
Xiaomi is considering fast charging options for phones with 5,500 mAh, 6,000 mAh, 6,500 mAh, 7,000mAh, and 7,500mAh batteries, according to Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station. The brand is developing a 5,000mAh 120W fast charging battery and a 5,500mAh 100W battery. The latter may charge in 18 minutes.
Xiaomi may be developing a 6,000 mAh battery with 120W fast charging that charges in 34 minutes. The tipster suggests a 6,500mAh battery and 100W charging combo that charges in 30 minutes.
The 7,500mAh battery with 100W charging solution and 7,000mAh battery with 120W charging solution are also being considered. The former may charge in 63 minutes and the latter in 49. We’re considering these combos.
Xiaomi’s main competitors OnePlus and Oppo may potentially release phones with larger batteries. BBK branch may release a 6,500mAh phone. Prototype batteries made of novel silicon materials are being tested. OnePlus released the 6,100mAh OnePlus Ace 3 Pro last week in June.
Xiaomi phones often have 5,000mAh batteries. The new Redmi Note 13 Pro+ and K70 Ultra feature 5,500mAh batteries with 120W fast charging. Fast charging claims to charge the battery 100% in 24 minutes.
