Vivo V40 Pro First Look

The Vivo V40 Pro has a quality camera and huge design.

Four months after launching its V30 series, Vivo is back with a new V series. The mid-range and premium Vivo V40 and V40 Pro smartphones are new. We’re using the Vivo V40 Pro, which has quality hardware and design. For Rs. 49,999, the phone has 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, while the 12GB RAM and 512GB storage edition costs Rs. 55,999. Vivo’s V30 series focused on camera hardware rather than thin designs and aesthetics, unlike other V series smartphones. The V40 seems to be an all-arounder with an emphasis on performance and battery longevity. Let’s examine what’s new.

We don’t anticipate much from mid-year improvements, yet Vivo revamped its look. Like current versions, the phone has curved sides and a flattened top and bottom. The phone is now IP68-rated, up from IP54 on the V30 Pro, indicating greater durability.

Your standard 3D curved edge display is integrated in the curved design. This 6.78-inch full-HD+ 120Hz curved edge AMOLED display has Schott’s Xensation Alpha glass. Our Ganges Blue review unit’s iridescent wave-like design on the glass curved edge back panel makes it stand out, even if it resembles the V30 Pro’s Andaman Blue. Titanium Grey is another phone finish.

The strange keyhole-shaped camera module stands out. The camera module extends from the phone’s slim body and includes a circular module with the 50-megapixel ultra-wide and primary cameras and a capsule-shaped bottom assembly with the 50-megapixel (2X optical) telephoto camera and aura light LED ring. As seen in the photographs, the Aura ring light is smaller than on the V30 Pro. Like the previous generation, the selfie camera is 50-megapixel and autofocus. Its camera arrangement is comparable to its predecessor.

Vivo’s Funtouch 14 OS, based on Android 14, has AI picture editing. The V40 Pro’s 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ SoC is an upgrade on the V30 Pro’s 8200 SoC.

The battery was updated too. Vivo V40 Pro’s 5,500mAh battery may be charged using the same 80W charger. The updated Vivo model lacks wireless charging.

Vivo’s V40 Pro could separate out from Samsung and Google’s premium handsets this year with performance and battery advancements. These smartphones also include AI functions, which Vivo has yet to include in its premium offerings and looks to be saving for its ultra-premium (Vivo X Fold 3 Pro) models. Our complete review will be available shortly if you want a premium photography-focused smartphone.
