Helldivers 2’s ‘Escalation of Freedom’ Update Adds Difficulty, New Enemies, and More
The upgrade promises the most “relentless” helldiving experience with Combat Rating 10.
Helldivers 2’s largest update, including new opponents, difficulty levels, mission goals, and more, arrives August 6. The PlayStation Blog unveiled the Escalation of Freedom update and video on Tuesday, marking the multiplayer shooter’s biggest feature drop. The free update will increase difficulty and introduce larger enemy outposts.
In August, Arrowhead Game Studios unveiled Helldivers 2’s Escalation of Freedom update’s new features. The huge update, coming six months after the game’s release, reportedly included user input. Helldivers 2 has gotten frequent updates, but this will be the largest.
Increased Difficulty
Helldivers 2 features nine challenging levels. The upgrade promises the most “relentless” helldiving experience with Combat Rating 10. In addition to challenge, CR10: Super Helldive will provide bigger prizes.
Updated mission objectives, larger Terminid and Automaton enemy outposts, and Super Sample prizes increase mission variation. The company stated that the new mission goals would be available on lesser difficulty levels than Super Helldive.
New enemies, QOL modifications
New adversaries include the Impaler, a popular first-game adversary, in the Escalation of Freedom update. Terminoids get a new Charger variant. Players won’t know where the Spore Charger is until they see it. The Terminid Alpha Commander, a larger Brood Commander that can summon other bugs, will be included in the update. Rocket Tanks are new Automaton enemies.
Arrowhead Game Studios is also changing team kicking to handle sorrow kicking. The new update allows booted players to host a fresh gaming session and carry over the team’s riches. Before leaving the planet, all treasure may be collected.
The significant update will also address the social menu for better helldiving with pals, according to the company. PS5 and PC will get the free update on August 6.
