A feature tracker suggests WhatsApp is testing a camera-only video note mode for Android and iOS. This feature may let users capture and send video notes via the camera. The video note feature was reportedly seen in an Android and iOS beta version of the program. It might build on WhatsApp’s new video note shortcut button from previous beta release.

WABetaInfo reports that the camera interface may have a video note mode alongside Video and Photo. It may have been found in WhatsApp beta.
According to Google Play Beta, the Android app version is 2.24.14.14. WhatsApp for iOS version 24.13.10.76, available through TestFlight, has the functionality.
