The 16th Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards concluded on Sunday, November 24, at the Sugar Factory Film Studios in Ilorin, Kwara State. The star-studded ceremony celebrated excellence in Nollywood, honoring top filmmakers and actors.
Notably, Femi Adebayo emerged as the night’s biggest winner. His film, Jagun Jagun, won six awards, including Best Costume and Best Actor. Veteran actor Keppy Ekpeyong won Best Supporting Male, while Biodun Stephen’s Momiwa earned awards for Best Screenplay and Best Editing.The film Unknown Soja also claimed accolades for Best Child Actress and Best Actress.
Governor AbdulRazaq AbdulRahman of Kwara State and Aare Abisoye Fagade, Director-General of the National Institute of Hospitality and Tourism, presented the Lifetime Achievement Award to veteran actor Kanayo O. Kanayo.Kanayo. Expressing pride in the state’s contributions to the film industry, the governor encouraged the production of more epic films at the Sugar Factory Film Studios in the coming year.
Importantly, the event, established by Seun Oloketuyi, is a pan-Nigerian traveling awards ceremony designed to recognize outstanding achievements in Nollywood.
Toyin Abraham hosted the ceremony, which featured industry icons like Binta Ayo-Mogaji, Mercy Aigbe-Adeoti, Biola Adebayo, Fred Amata, Segun Arinze, Femi Adebayo, and Kanayo O.Kanayo, and Hilda Dokubo, among others. The evening highlighted Nollywood’s vibrancy and its contributions to the global film landscape.
