Edo State Governor Orders Review of E-Governance Platform Over Security Concerns
Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has expressed deep concern over the current state of the e-governance platform, revealing that unknown non-state actors are controlling the system from the backend. This alarming situation has left the state’s Public Service without administrative access, raising serious questions about data security and governance integrity.
In a statement dated November 25, 2024, Secretary of the State Government, Umar Ikhilor, clarified that the administration has not shut down the platform, as rumored. Instead, Governor Okpebholo has ordered an immediate review to address these vulnerabilities. “This is a severe data security issue,” the statement noted, emphasizing the urgent need for the government to regain control and ensure the platform serves its intended purpose effectively.
The governor’s directive aims to restore trust in the platform, protect the state’s data, and re-establish institutional memory that the current setup lacks.
Governor Okpebholo’s decisive action reflects his commitment to transparency, accountability, and safeguarding the digital tools essential for the state’s progress.
