Commissioner Ogun pledged to shield women and girls from harm

Adijat Adeleye, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development in Ogun State, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to protecting women and girls from all forms of abuse and violence.

To ensure no woman or girl is left behind, Adeleye called for stronger responses, wider coverage of gender-based violence cases, and increased support from both sexes advocating for the cause.

In a statement issued Tuesday to mark the start of the annual 16-day campaign against gender-based violence, themed “No Excuse: Unite to End Violence Against Women,” she underscored the importance of continued action.

Adeleye highlighted that “sensitization campaigns have reached unprecedented heights in recent years, sparking important dialogues and changing attitudes within communities.” She also pointed out that the state had made remarkable progress through cooperation, advocacy, awareness, and improved access to support networks and resources for survivors.

The commissioner explained that this year’s theme focuses on reflecting on and intensifying efforts to eliminate gender-based violence and ensure every woman and girl enjoys the respect, dignity, and independence they deserve.

She urged all parties to collaborate with the state government to create a safe society, support survivors, and oppose harmful behaviors that perpetuate violence.
