Anambra pays 70, 000 minimum wage

The Anambra State Government has confirmed the implementation of the new minimum wage of N70,000 for workers, in line with the Federal Government’s directive aimed at improving the standard of living.

Dr. Law Mefor, the State Commissioner for Information, clarified the situation in a statement, addressing media reports that had excluded Anambra from the list of states already paying the new minimum wage. He emphasized that workers in Anambra have been receiving the N70,000 minimum wage since October, fulfilling Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s commitment to bettering the welfare of the state’s workers.

The statement highlighted that Governor Soludo has consistently been supportive of labor, noting that Anambra workers not only receive the new minimum wage but also get their salary alerts on or before the 25th of every month. Additionally, pensions have been increased to provide pensioners in the state with a better income.

The government reiterated its dedication to ensuring the continued well-being of Anambra’s workforce under Governor Soludo’s administration.
