Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has ordered the suspension of all recruitment activities into the state’s Civil Service until further notice. The directive also includes a comprehensive review of all appointments made by the previous administration of Governor Godwin Obaseki between May and November 2024.

- Clandestine Recruitment Activities:
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Musa Ikhilor, disclosed in a statement that reports revealed irregular employment practices by various Commissions, Boards, Parastatals, and Agencies. These include issuing backdated employment letters without adhering to due process. - Suspension of Employment Processes:
To address these concerns, the governor has:- Halted all recruitment activities across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
- Ordered a thorough review of appointments made since May 2024.
