Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has announced the immediate and indefinite suspension of all revenue collections across the state, particularly in motor parks, until further notice.
Fred Itua, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, issued this directive in a statement on Wednesday in Benin.
In addition, Governor Okpebholo has instructed the State Commissioner of Police to arrest anyone who defies the order.
The governor emphasized that the suspension will remain in effect as he reviews the issues surrounding the revenue collections and decides on the way forward.
The statement emphasized that authorities will arrest anyone found collecting revenue on behalf of the state government.
The governor indicated that a review will take place, and new directives will be issued soon to address the raised concerns.
