Afrobeats sensation Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, popularly known as Ayra Starr, recently shared how her family and friends play a pivotal role in keeping her grounded despite her growing fame.
In a conversation with Coco Jones for Rolling Stone’s “Musicians on Musicians” series, Ayra revealed the joy she finds in returning home to Nigeria, where she embraces the vibrant, familiar family life.
“When I go back home, I still live with my family. My brothers are making noise playing video games,” she shared, capturing the lively atmosphere that reconnects her to her roots.
Ayra also talked about her friends’ influence on her personal style, explaining how they help her with fashion decisions through a dedicated group chat. “I still involve my friends in my life. We have a group chat where I solicit their opinions on what I wear,” she noted.
While grateful for her support system, she acknowledged the challenges of balancing fame and her personal life, sometimes needing to take breaks to recharge. This balance, she emphasized, is key to maintaining her sense of self amid the pressures of stardom.
