Adedeji Adeleke, father of award-winning musician Davido, recently shared the challenges he faced while securing an environmental permit for his $2 billion power plant project.
Speaking during the Seventh Day Adventist General Conference Annual Council in Maryland, USA, Adeleke described his experience dealing with obstructive government officials during the development of his company Pacific Energy‘s power plant.
He recalled a particular official dismissively stating that the project would “never see the light of day.”
However, Adeleke, a Baptist, refused to accept this and turned to prayer, seeking divine intervention. Despite the setbacks, his determination to push forward paid off, and his company, working with Chinese engineering firms, is now on track to complete the 1,250-megawatt plant by January 2025. This project will reportedly generate about 15% of Nigeria’s electricity needs.
