Bishop Oyedepo slams critics over pastors’ retirement

Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of the Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel), has addressed critics regarding the church’s decision to retire senior pastors, including Bishops Thomas Aremu and David Abioye.

Both pastors, who served in the ministry for decades, will retire under the church’s operational guidelines, known as The Mandate, which were revised in 2024.

The revised Mandate lowered the retirement age from 60 to 55.

Responding to social media criticism, Oyedepo urged the public to refrain from meddling in the church’s internal decisions, stating, “My advice to commentators is to study to be quiet and mind your business.”

He further emphasized that success in the ministry stems from following divine instructions and focusing on personal growth in God.

During the service, Aremu made it clear that he has no plans to establish his own church, affirming his loyalty to Winners Chapel.

He expressed gratitude for his time in ministry and reaffirmed his commitment to staying connected with the church, noting that stepping away from spiritual life is dangerous.
