The OpenAI o1 AI models were previewed last week.
Last week, OpenAI launched the o1 series AI models with enhanced reasoning. This AI model is supposed to be the “Strawberry” model the business was building for months. The o1 and o1-mini large language models (LLMs) were said to be capable of multi-step reasoning and “thinking like a human”. According to a study, the AI business is expanding these models to corporate and education customers.
Enterprise, Education Users Get OpenAI o1 AI Models
The AI business is now offering its latest AI models to ChatGPT Enterprise and Edu users, according to VentureBeat. This implies users may soon switch to o1 models while running a prompt. On the LLM release day, Plus and Teams users received the AI models.
Although ChatGPT premium users are receiving the newest AI model, OpenAI says this is still a “in preview” launch, so rate constraints will apply. The bigger o1 model limits enquiries to 50 per week. The o1-mini’s rate restriction was the same upon debut, but the business eventually upped it to 50 enquiries per day.
These new o1 models solve and perform complicated reasoning-based tasks, multi-step mathematical problems, and areas needing greater subject matter knowledge. The AI business promises that the models would ponder over the prompt for a few minutes before responding. OpenAI said that this replicates human thinking and helps the AI to consider multiple options and reduce mistakes.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Jackson Laboratory professor Derya Unutmaz claimed that the o1 AI model was able to “write a major cancer treatment project based on a very specific immunological approach” in “days, if not longer” of preparation.
OpenAI has announced that ChatGPT free users will obtain the o1-mini AI model in the coming weeks. The rate limit will likely be lower than for premium members.
